My Thoughts On Social Media Content

Location: London – United Kingdom

Well, it’s been a hot minute. I am starting to feel like the boy who cried wolf, always saying I am getting back into blogging but then disappear for eons.

Trust me, ‘update the blog’ is on my to-do list every damn day but because of social media and general life tings, I keep pushing it to tomorrow {that never comes}. I know that is just an excuse to procrastinate but I am now actively working to change that. No more excuses.

The thing is, I don’t want to update for the sake of updating. I want to put something worthwhile online. With the rise of social media, I feel like content posted online no longer has substance. I browse through Instagram rolling my eyes instead of being inspired. It’s either an image of a half-naked girl {to each their own} or someone twirling around and captioning it ‘mood’. How is that doing anything for anyone? Yeah, it’s cute the first time around but when it is being shoved in my face over and over again, it just makes me resent being in this industry.

I know fashion isn’t really saving lives but it can be so wonderful and fulfilling when done right. When you help someone’s confidence by showing them how to style themselves or teach them the right way to perfect the cat eye, it’s giving back in a different way. It is helping them be more confident in themselves and hopefully giving them the courage to ask for that promotion at work or to ace the next company presentation.

I’ve always said this and I will say it again, quality over quantity. And that is what I am trying to achieve in my content. I am looking to upload more substantial content that will leave people with a thought, advice and maybe learn a thing or two. I want to share what I have learned throughout my life as a Middle Eastern woman, whether that is from the 9 years of blogging or my time as an editor at Vogue Arabia.

I, myself, am still learning as I go and am always on the lookout for content that helps me grow a little so I hope I can do the same in return. If you have been riding along with me for the past 9 years, I hope I have not disappointed in what I put out there on the world wide web. And if you haven’t, give me a follow on Instagram and let me know what your thoughts are.

P.S. I know the images have nothing to do with the write-up but I thought I would throw in a little fashion in the mix because why not?
